Child & Adolescent Support

A safe space for children and young people to express, understand, and grow.

Growing up comes with many changes. Children and adolescents are learning to understand themselves, build relationships, manage expectations, and find their place in the world. What may seem small to others can sometimes feel very significant to a young person.

At मन Charcha, child and adolescent support provides a warm and comfortable space where young individuals can express themselves, feel heard, and make sense of what they are experiencing. Support is shaped around their age, personality, experiences, and individual needs.

Young people may not always have the words to explain what they are feeling. Sometimes, their emotions may show up through changes in behavior, withdrawal, irritability, difficulty expressing themselves, changes in confidence, or loss of interest.

Growing up can also bring questions around friendships, identity, academic pressure, family changes, independence, relationships, and expectations. Having someone to talk to can help young individuals understand these experiences and feel more equipped to navigate them.

The focus is not simply on changing a behavior, but on understanding what may be behind it and what the young person may be trying to express. Support can develop emotional awareness, confidence, communication, coping skills, and a better understanding of themselves and their relationships.

parents and caregivers will be part of psycho education for gaining a better insight into their child’s development and experiences.

Every young person has their own way of expressing what they feel. Sometimes, they simply need a space where they feel safe enough to be heard.

FAQs

Child & Adolescent Support: Frequently Asked Questions

What is child and adolescent counselling?

Child and adolescent counselling is psychological support designed for children and teenagers. Using age-appropriate conversation, activities and play, the psychologist helps young people understand and express feelings, cope with stress, build confidence and handle challenges at home, school or with friends.

How do I know if my child needs counselling?

Signs include lasting changes in mood or behaviour, frequent anger or tearfulness, withdrawing from friends, trouble sleeping, school refusal, falling grades, excessive worry, or difficulty coping after a big change such as a move, divorce or loss. If you are concerned, an initial session can help clarify things.

Will parents be involved in their child's therapy?

Yes, to an appropriate degree. Parents are usually involved in the first meeting and in periodic updates and guidance sessions. At the same time, children and teenagers are given a private space to talk, and the psychologist shares general progress without breaking the child's trust, unless there is a safety concern.

How can I explain therapy to my child?

Keep it simple and positive. You might say they will be meeting someone whose job is to help kids talk about feelings and find ways to feel better, just like a doctor helps the body. Reassure them it is not a punishment and that they are not in trouble.

Is online counselling suitable for teenagers?

Often, yes. Many teenagers feel comfortable talking online from a private room at home. For younger children, in-person sessions usually work better because play and activities are easier. The psychologist will suggest the best format for your child's age and needs.
